In my home yard I tried removing all the invasives first, but I couldn't keep up before new invasive seedlings took hold. Now, I try to put in a native in ASAP. Or, I let aggressive natives like daisy fleabane or Canada Goldenrod grow in until I'm ready to plant the area. I also have had good luck with at least just loping/hedge trimming off the seed bank if I cant get to the invasive right away (also useful for aggressive native I don't want to spread there).
